Let us trust Jesus

A PLEA – LET US TRUST JESUS

A couple of years ago I was going through a very challenging time. I found my thoughts constantly being turned to an issue that was going on in our lives. I would wake up in the middle of the night and immediately the waves of fear mixed with anger flooded my mind. They were all distractions.

Each time this happened I would ask the Lord to intervene and help me deal with these thoughts as I gave them over to Him. It was an issue we had no control over and all we could do was trust Jesus. In my crying out to the Lord I found comfort in the story of Jesus in the boat with his disciples. The wind was tossing the boat every where and waves were crashing over and into the vessel – but –  “Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion!” I was so deeply refreshed and encouraged by this.

I thought that if Jesus was sleeping in the midst of the storm in our little boat then we were OK!

The reason I share this with you is because there will be many such storms in our lives – all different in nature BUT Jesus is always the same. He is always with us and we can always trust Him. To be bluntly honest with you I am tired of hearing about ‘Simple church, postmodern, liquid church, out of the box, deconstructed and anything else that detracts from knowing Jesus. And knowing Him will enable us to trust Him  to take us through the storms of life. We need to be aware that it is Jesus alone who calls us to walk with Him. The rest are simply add-ons!  Potential replacements and distractions away from the joy of knowing Christ our Lord.

I reflected on this statement taken from Phillip Keller’s book, “What is the Father Like?”

“Yes, I call for you, and I come to you, my beloved child, because I yearn to meet you. I await your love and childlike trust. And the more you get to know Me the more you will trust Me.”
