I really enjoy being out walking because it gives me time to think and listen. To think about scripture I’ve been reading and to listen to the wind words. Over the years I am still so deeply grateful to the Lord for the relationship we share as He goes out of His way to encourage me during these walks. I watch the effect of the wind blowing through the trees and imagine the wind words of the Spirit blowing across my own life. This picture experience alerts me to be awake and alert to the moving of the Spirit. [Ruach – Hebrew, Pneuma – Greek – wind and spirit]
ENCOURAGEMENT
You may find God’s encouragement in other ways. It is a joy to live life in an unhurried way, experiencing grace, peace and the knowledge that God is in charge. Can we see or imagine this as a daily reality while living in our unsettled world?
Every follower of Jesus has a path to tread and a way of walking. I’m often drawn to Psalm 86. “Give me an undivided heart” David was experiencing a time of threat from godless men. He opens his song with a cry for help. “Hear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and in need.”
David moves forward as if taking the next step, “You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.” In spite of his personal safety being at risk David acknowledges God as his source of trust. He continues, “Hear my prayer, O Lord listen to my cry for mercy”
WHO IS OUR GOD?
Each one of us faces different challenges, steps of uncertainty and opportunities that draw us out of our comfort zone. These seasons impact our pace and disturb our rhythm but they are also building blocks that stamp God’s character into our being. He is faithful in every way. David declares who God is as he turns from his personal problem. “You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.” In our daily walk with Jesus let us declare through lips of gratitude and a deep heart appreciation for who God is!
And David moves us further forward in worship. “But you, O Lord are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Let us be encouraged and strengthened as we open the eyes of our hearts towards the living God who is rich in mercy, and life renewing in unwarranted forgiveness.
