Vallorbe

Vallorbe

Both of us were excited at the prospect of visiting our dear friends Silvio and Dominique in Switzerland. We were faced with quite an adventure. Travelling by train to France (Paris Nord) and then across the city on the Metro to Gare de Lyon,  where we caught  the TGV on to Vallorbe in Switzerland.

What an amazing setting. Vallorbe is surrounded on three sides by mountains reaching over 1400 metres in places. The River Orbe runs in front of their three storey home. You can see the river from their balcony pictured here.

We so enjoy staying with friends or having friends stay in our home. Being invited in to a friend’s home and sharing a meal around their table is an open welcome in to their lives. Meal times are great opportunities for sharing God’s life together as friends.  And, the breaking of bread (shared meals) around Silvio and Dominique’s very long dining room table was just such a time of sharing life together.

We certainly had some fun times together whether eating Swiss sausages on the mountain cooked by Chef Viotti, walking through the market place in Lausanne or watching a movie together. Whether we were eating, drinking, praying, laughing, walking or just being… our time together spoke so clearly of the grace of God. There was a freedom and a real sense that this was Church life without boundaries.  IMG_1925

We are so grateful to the Lord for this special time together and we look forward to other shared days with these dear friends.
